Wirework Jewellery

Wirework jewellery was the beginning of Amanda Burton’s exploration into metal, structure and process — a practice she has developed for almost two decades.

Originally trained in traditional wirework techniques, Amanda became known for intricate handwoven jewellery created through wrapping, weaving and sculptural construction using copper, silver and mixed metals. Her work was featured in Vogue magazine and exhibited nationally, helping establish Wire Moon as an identifiable part of her creative practice.

Inspired by natural systems, growth patterns and organic form, the pieces balance delicacy with strength — sitting somewhere between adornment, drawing and small-scale sculpture. Many of the themes explored within this early jewellery practice — line, layering, transformation and structure — continue to reappear throughout Amanda’s wider work today..
